Giving Every Child a Joyful Start to Literacy
Mission:
Our mission is to ensure every child starts school with the foundational literacy skills needed to succeed. We achieve this by providing engaging, phonics-based handwriting lessons for children ages 3–12 that blend songs, characters, and movement to create a joyful learning foundation. With the support of our donors, we offer these essential resources free or at low cost to families and schools in need, making equitable early literacy a reality.
Vision:
Our vision is to live in a world where universal foundational literacy is a reality for every child, and where every young learner, regardless of background, is equipped with the handwriting and phonics skills necessary to read, write, and confidently pursue their full academic potential.

About Us
OUR STORY
ABC Tutor Inc. was founded by Lisa Meechan, a passionate educator, creative director, and literacy advocate with over 40 years of experience in early childhood education.
While teaching in programs ranging from Montessori to Orton-Gillingham, Lisa noticed a growing gap: many early literacy programs left children behind. Too often, handwriting was taught in isolation — without the joy, movement, and sound connections that make learning stick.
That’s when she created La La’s Letters, a fun, phonics-based handwriting program filled with music, storytelling, and lovable characters designed to engage young learners. Through ABC Tutor Inc., Lisa is now bringing this joyful approach to underperforming schools and low-income families — ensuring that no child misses the chance to fall in love with learning.
